Teacher Spotlight: Alana Koch
Mrs Alana Koch | Head of Wellbeing | 22 February 2022
Introducing our new Head of Wellbeing, Alana Koch, who has joined our Executive Team for 2022. Alana started her career many years ago at Deloitte in tax consulting, but quickly transferred her love of commerce to the classroom where she was able to teach, mentor and encourage young people.
Why are you excited to start in your role at St Luke's Grammar School?
I am excited because I have been impressed by the talent and enthusiasm of the St Luke’s staff team and I know that with such a great team, our wellbeing framework will be embedded with authenticity to support the mental health of many students and staff in the coming years.
What do you love about your role in the School?
I love that I can play a role in supporting student wellbeing throughout a student’s whole journey throughout primary and secondary school. This is both by explicitly teaching wellbeing and also implicitly contributing to it in the culture of the school. It is a privilege to work with such great educators to create a common language for wellbeing and to build it in to our teaching and learning programs.
What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?
I have 3 sons, so when I am not working, I am usually driving them to sport or playdates! I love Pilates reformer classes as well, so try to get to those a couple of times a week. And of course, I love to see friends for lunch or dinner and have a laugh.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Stopping time! There’s always more that I want to do than time allows.
